Open fires are prohibited throughout the park from midnight to 4 p.m. through April 30 per the 4 p.m. Burning Law. This includes wood and charcoal. Gas is permissible. Campground fires are allowed during the restricted time if a camp host is on duty and signage to that effect is posted in the campground. Failure to observe the 4 p.m. Burning Law can result in a fine. Contact the Park Office for additional information.

Peter Radlowski, Sarah Sumoski and Mr. Rigby

Come share our adventure! We are avid hikers, explorers, and naturalists; on a whim we came up with a challenge to see every Virginia State Park in 2016. Throughout the year we’ll be visiting all 36 parks and sharing the experience along the way. We are northerners hailing from New York and Pennsylvania originally, with Bachelors and Masters degrees in the biological and environmental sciences. Sarah moved to Virginia for graduate school at William and Mary’s Virginia Institute of Marine Science and now manages a 40-acre urban park in Hampton Roads. She loves to take Mr. Rigby (a rescue from Norfolk) on hikes throughout the area, which inspired this challenge. Peter moved to Virginia after being given the chance to pursue new and exciting professional and personal endeavors. Together we will journey the state and are excited to navigate our way from the coast line to Appalachia!
